T1 Mapping in Characterizing Myocardial Disease

چکیده
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is unique in its ability to noninvasively provide insights into cardiac morphology, myocardial architecture, blood flow, tissue perfusion, and function with high diagnostic accuracy and without needing ionizing radiation. In addition, CMR is also well suited to inform on the presence of subclinical disease and to unravel the complex pathophysiology of various cardiovascular conditions in ways that are not currently possible with other techniques. CMR is thus gaining increasing use in an ever-expanding range of cardiac conditions to diagnose or exclude disease, stratify risk, and guide management. A full CMR examination consists of different protocols that can be Review

The necessity for full ventricular coverage with noncontrast T1 mapping in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic heart disease characterized by diverse phenotypic expression. T1 mapping is a novel CMR imaging sequence aimed at characterizing abnormal myocardial substrate. Current protocols obtain a mean T1 value derived from a single mid-LV short axis slice (single slice protocol) or three short-axis locations: apical, mid-LV and basal (three slice...
متن کاملMyocardial T1 mapping as a diagnostic tool in pediatric patients with a concern for cardiac disease
Background Myocardial tissue characterization with both native T1 mapping and T1 mapping following gadolinium based contrast agents (T1 enhanced) has emerged as an important asset of CMR imaging [1]. However, there is only minimal experience in pediatrics [2]. Native T1 has shown to be a marker of myocardial edema, and may play a role in pathologic states such as myocarditis [3]. T1 enhanced ma...
متن کاملQuantitative evaluation of ischemic myocardial scar tissue by unenhanced T1 mapping using 3.0 Tesla MR scanner.
PURPOSE We aimed to use a noninvasive method for quantifying T1 values of chronic myocardial infarction scar by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and determine its diagnostic performance. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed cardiac MRI on 29 consecutive patients with known coronary artery disease (CAD) on 3.0 Tesla MRI scanner. An unenhanced T1 mapping technique was used to calculate T...
متن کاملT1 mapping in Cushing's disease: a follow-up study
Background Cushing’s disease (CD) has demonstrated subclinical myocardial involvement such as left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy and both diastolic and systolic impairment. Although myocardial fibrosis may play an important role in such myocardial alterations, the new T1 mapping techniques have not yet been used in CD to characterize the myocardium at baseline and to evaluate the effect of treat...
متن کاملNative Magnetic Resonance T1-Mapping Identifies Diffuse Myocardial Injury in Hypothyroidism
BACKGROUND AND AIM Hypothyroidism (HT) is characterized by thyroid hormone deficiencies, which can lead to diffuse myocardial interstitium lesions in patients with HT. Myocardial longitudinal relaxation time (T1) mapping is a potential diagnostic tool for quantifying diffuse myocardial injury. This study aimed to assess the usefulness of T1 mapping in identifying myocardial involvement in HT, a...
متن کاملAccelerated myocardial T1 mapping using SMART1Map and compressed sensing with temporal PCA
Background Myocardial T1 mapping has been proposed for characterizing a wide range of diffuse and focal fibrotic pathologies. Due to the demands of requiring multiple sample points along the signal relaxation curve in a breath-held ECG-gated scan, current T1 mapping methods have focused on single-shot acquisitions. Collecting all data in a quiescent time window has limited T1 mapping to a reduc...
